Product Introduction
The sintered metal mesh filter cartridge is a high-performance all-metal filter element for severe industrial filtration conditions. It can be fitted into customized water filter housing, and works in series with an upstream self-cleaning filter to complete graded solid-liquid and solid-gas separation. The self-cleaning filter intercepts large particles and bulk impurities through automatic backwashing, while the sintered metal mesh cartridge performs precise fine filtration to capture tiny contaminants that pass through the upstream stage. This filter cartridge is sintered by stacking multiple layers of stainless steel mesh, woven wire cloth or metal fiber felt. The layered structure adopts coarse outer mesh covering fine inner mesh, which realizes gradient depth filtration and greatly extends service life. Made of 304 or 316 stainless steel, the sintered mesh has a flat woven structure with uniform pores. It belongs to surface filtration, trapping pollutant particles on the mesh surface to separate impurities from flowing fluid. Its fused sintered structure can endure continuous operating temperature up to 450℃ and pressure drop up to 72.5 psi (5 kg/cm²). The integral welding structure prevents fiber shedding and material precipitation, and the filter element can be cleaned repeatedly and regenerated. It is an economical and reliable filtration choice for high temperature, high viscosity and corrosive working media, including industrial oil, chemical solvents, steam, gas, resin and food liquid.
Working Principle

The sintered metal mesh filter cartridge adopts surface and gradient depth composite filtration. When fluid passes through the multi-layer sintered mesh, particles larger than the mesh pore size are intercepted on the outer mesh surface. The multi-layer design allows large particles to be captured by the outer coarse mesh layer, while finer particles are trapped by the inner fine mesh layer. This layered interception avoids rapid surface blinding and improves dirt holding capacity.
In a complete multi-stage filtration train, the upstream self-cleaning filter acts as the primary coarse barrier, removing large debris and sediment by automatic backwash. The downstream water filter housing holds the sintered metal mesh cartridge to carry out precision filtration.
As solid contaminants accumulate on the mesh surface, the differential pressure rises gradually. When the pressure difference reaches the set limit, the cartridge can be cleaned by backwashing, ultrasonic cleaning or chemical soaking. After cleaning, the filtration performance can be largely restored and reused many times. Unlike disposable polymer filter cartridges, this all-metal sintered element is regenerable and reduces long-term consumable costs.

Buying & Selection Guide
When selecting a sintered metal mesh filter cartridge, buyers need to confirm filtration precision, overall size, end connection, working temperature, fluid medium and the inner size of the water filter housing. If the raw fluid contains a large amount of coarse sediment and large solids, it is recommended to install a self-cleaning filter upstream to reduce the contaminant load and extend the service interval of the sintered mesh cartridge. For general oil and water media, 304 stainless steel is cost-effective. For corrosive solvents or chloride-containing media, select 316 stainless steel. For high-temperature steam and gas applications, special high-temperature sealing materials are required. We can customize the outer diameter, length and thread fittings according to your filter housing and pipeline.
FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between sintered metal mesh cartridge and PP melt blown cartridge?
A: Sintered metal mesh is all-metal, high temperature resistant, reusable. PP melt blown is disposable polymer depth filter, only suitable for low temperature liquid below 60℃.
Q2: How many times can the sintered metal mesh cartridge be cleaned and reused?
A: It depends on the fluid condition. Under normal working conditions, it can be cleaned and regenerated dozens of times until the mesh is permanently blocked or mechanically damaged.
Q3: Can it work with self-cleaning filter and water filter housing?
A: Yes. We can customize the end connector and dimension to fit standard water filter housing, and it is widely used in series with self-cleaning filter for multi-stage filtration.
Q4: Can this filter cartridge be used for gas filtration?
A: Yes. It is commonly used for high-temperature steam and industrial gas filtration, thanks to its high temperature resistance and stable pore structure.
Q5: What is the most common precision for oil filtration?
A: 5μm ~ 20μm is the mainstream choice for lubricating oil and cutting fluid purification.
