XLE2540 Extra Low Energy RO Membrane Element For Light Industrial Pure Water
Introduction:When designing water purification systems for light industrial and commercial projects that pursue low operating costs, our factory supplies premium Liquid Filters, Self Cleaning Filter and a full lineup of RO membrane elements, including XLE2540 extra low energy RO membrane. This 2540 size polyamide thin film composite membrane delivers reliable salt rejection at remarkably low operating pressure. It effectively removes dissolved salts, silica, colloids and organic impurities from well water and municipal tap water. As an economical drop-in replacement for imported low-energy membrane brands, it fits compact RO skids, helping water treatment system integrators cut long-term power consumption and routine maintenance expenses.

Product Introduction

XLE2540 extra low energy RO membrane is a premium 2.5 inch × 40 inch membrane element built for light industrial and commercial pure water production. Distinct from conventional low-pressure RO membranes, this XLE series model is engineered to achieve stable desalination performance under much lower driving pressure, greatly reducing energy demand for continuous water treatment operation. To preserve consistent membrane performance and avoid premature fouling, pretreatment assemblies including Liquid Filters, Self Cleaning Filter are strongly recommended to capture suspended solids and particulate contaminants before raw water enters the membrane housing. Many imported standard RO membranes require higher pressure to maintain target water yield, which raises electricity bills year-round. Our XLE2540 solves this pain point, delivering steady permeate output with minimal energy input. It is fully interchangeable with standard 2540 membrane housings, making retrofit and membrane replacement simple for project contractors and end users.
Working Principle

The XLE2540 RO membrane relies on reverse osmosis separation technology. Under suitable low driving pressure, pure water molecules pass through the dense polyamide thin composite layer, while dissolved salts, heavy metal ions, colloidal particles and large organic molecules are trapped on the feed side of the membrane surface. The optimized low-resistance membrane sheet lowers the threshold pressure needed for water permeation. The membrane surface is modified to enhance hydrophilicity, slowing foulant accumulation and extending the interval between CIP chemical cleaning cycles, which reduces system downtime and chemical reagent consumption.

Core Advantages
Ultra Low Energy ConsumptionSpecially designed for low-pressure operation. It cuts the load on high-pressure pumps and reduces power expenditure for systems running 24/7, ideal for projects sensitive to electricity cost.
Reliable Desalination PerformanceMaintains stable salt rejection for tap water and low-TDS well water, consistently producing qualified pure water for commercial and light industrial applications.
Direct Drop-in ReplacementStandard 2540 physical dimension, fully compatible with widely used 2.5-inch membrane pressure vessels. No hardware modification required for existing RO skids.
Gentle Fouling TendencyHydrophilic membrane surface reduces adhesion of colloids and organic pollutants, lowering chemical cleaning frequency and saving maintenance labour.
Competitive Replacement OptionMatches the performance of famous imported XLE series RO membranes at a more favourable price, helping EPC contractors and water treatment distributors control project budgets.
Application Scenarios

Light industrial pure water for electronics cleaning, electroplating auxiliary water
Municipal tap water deep purification for commercial drinking water

FAQ
Q1: What is the main difference between XLE2540 and ULP series RO membranes?
A1: XLE2540 targets extra low energy operation with slightly lower salt rejection, suitable for raw water with low TDS. ULP series focuses on ultra-low pressure with higher salt rejection for brackish water.
Q2: Can XLE2540 replace imported XLE2540 RO membrane directly?
A2: Yes. Physical dimensions and interface are identical to standard 2540 membrane elements, direct drop-in replacement is available.
Q3: What pretreatment is needed to protect XLE2540 membrane?
A3: Feed water SDI must be controlled ≤3. Liquid Filters and Self Cleaning Filter are commonly used pretreatment equipment to remove solid particles and protect RO membrane.
Q4: What service life can we expect for XLE2540?
A4: With proper pretreatment and standard operation, the normal service life is 2–3 years. Poor raw water quality will shorten membrane service life.
Q5: How to clean fouled XLE2540 RO membrane?
A5: Implement CIP chemical cleaning based on pollutant types. Acid cleaning for inorganic scaling, alkaline cleaning for organic and biological fouling.
