What is a multi-media filter?

Multi media filter, as the name suggests, is the use of two or more filtering materials (such as anthracite,

quartz sand, etc.) to filter raw water under a certain pressure, effectively removing suspended particles,

colloids, organic matter and other impurities in the water. Good filtering effect, strong pollutant

interception ability, controllable operating costs, and very convenient operation and maintenance,

thus playing an important role in multiple fields.

In which scenarios does it usually appear?

01 Industrial circulating cooling water treatment process

In industrial production, if a large amount of suspended solids or algae enter the cooling water system,

it is easy to cause pipeline blockage, equipment scaling, and even corrosion. As the pre-processing unit

of the system, the multi-media filter can effectively intercept these impurities, which helps to improve

the operating efficiency of the system and extend the service life of the equipment.

02 Pre treatment equipment for membrane treatment system

Membrane systems such as reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration have very high requirements for the

quality of incoming water, especially to avoid being blocked by suspended solids and colloids. Multi

media filters can effectively control the density index of sludge in the inlet water, protect these precision

and high-value membrane components, and become an important part of the deep water treatment

process.

03 Purification equipment for urban and rural water supply

There may be problems such as high iron and manganese content and high turbidity in urban tap water,

groundwater, and surface water. Multi media filters can effectively improve water quality and can be used

as drinking water pretreatment equipment in residential areas, villages, factories, and other places,

providing clear and clean domestic water for everyone.

04 Advanced treatment unit for wastewater reuse

In wastewater treatment and reclaimed water reuse projects, multi-media filters are often used as tertiary

treatment equipment to remove suspended solids in water, allowing the treated water to be used for

greening, flushing, industrial cooling, etc., achieving the recycling of water resources.

05 Common equipment in multiple industrial fields

In industries such as petroleum, chemical, power, and metallurgy, different processes have different

requirements for water quality. Multi media filters are often used as the basic unit in water treatment

processes due to their flexibility and reliability, meeting the water needs of different scenarios.

06 Water Quality Maintenance Equipment for Leisure and Aquaculture Industry

Swimming pools and aquaculture both require clean water quality. Multi media filters effectively remove

organic matter and suspended particles from water through cyclic filtration, providing a comfortable and

clear water environment for swimmers and aquatic organisms.

When using a multi-media filter, it is generally recommended that the inlet turbidity does not exceed

20-50NTU, the normal operating pressure is between 0.2-0.6MPa, and the operating flow rate is controlled

at 8-12m/h to ensure that the outlet turbidity remains stable at a low level.

From industrial manufacturing to daily life, from sewage treatment to resource reuse, multi-media filters

silently play the role of "guardians of clean water". It may not be often mentioned by people, but it truly

supports the stable operation of countless systems, maintaining the cleanliness and safety of every drop

of our water.
