The plate and frame filter press is a batch-type pressure filtration device designed for sludge dewatering and solid-liquid separation. As a mature separation solution, it is often matched with auxiliary equipment such as water filter housing and self-cleaning filter to remove large impurities in the feed slurry in advance, avoiding blockage of filter cloth and feeding pipeline. The main body consists of filter plates, filter frames, filter cloth, hydraulic pressing unit, feeding pipeline and discharge tray. The filter plates and filter frames are arranged alternately on the main beam. Filter cloth is sandwiched between each plate and frame to form independent filter chambers. When the slurry is pumped into the chambers under pressure, liquid passes through the filter cloth and flows out along the drainage grooves on filter plates, while solid particles are trapped inside the chamber to form compact filter cake. After the filling and washing process, the plate group will be opened, and the dry filter cake will fall off automatically. Compared with many modern separation equipment, this machine features simple structure, easy maintenance and outstanding dewatering effect. It can adapt to different slurry properties by adjusting filter cloth type, pressing pressure and working cycle.
Working Principle
The whole working cycle of the plate and frame filter press includes feeding filtration, cake washing, air drying, cake discharging and filter cloth cleaning. First, the hydraulic cylinder pushes the movable head plate to tightly compress all filter plates and filter frames together, so every filter chamber is sealed reliably. The feeding pump sends slurry into each filter chamber through the central feeding hole. Under the pressure of feeding pump, the liquid phase penetrates the filter cloth, enters the flow channel on filter plate surface and flows out from the filtrate outlet. Solid particles are intercepted by filter cloth and gradually accumulate inside the chamber to form filter cake. When the filter chamber is fully filled with solid cake, the feeding process stops. For applications that need to remove soluble impurities inside the cake, clean washing water can be pumped into the filter chamber to rinse the filter cake. After washing, compressed air can be injected to blow out residual liquid inside the cake and filter cloth, further reduce the moisture content of sludge cake. Once the drying step finishes, the hydraulic system releases pressure. The filter plates are pulled open one by one. The filter cake loses support and falls down by gravity. Operators or automatic plate shifter can clean the filter cloth. After inspection, the press can be closed again to start the next filtration cycle. The pre-filter system composed of water filter housing and self-cleaning filter plays a key role here: it intercepts oversized debris before slurry enters the filter press, preventing scratches on filter plates and severe filter cloth clogging, and greatly extending the service life of consumables.
Main Structure
Beam & Frame:
High-strength carbon steel beam, the core bearing part, supports filter plates, movable head and pressing cylinder. It adopts anti-rust painting treatment to resist corrosion in humid workshop environment.
Filter Plate & Filter Frame:
Made of reinforced polypropylene. It has good acid and alkali resistance, pressure resistance and anti-aging performance. The surface is molded with drainage grooves for smooth filtrate flowing.
Hydraulic Pressing System:
Includes hydraulic station, oil cylinder, pressure sensor and control valve. It provides stable clamping force to seal filter chambers. The pressure can be adjusted according to different slurry.
Filter Cloth:
The key filter medium. Multiple materials are optional: polypropylene, polyester, nylon, etc. Different pore sizes are selected based on solid particle size of raw slurry.
Control Cabinet:
