Integrated MBR Sewage Treatment Equipment for Domestic Wastewater
Introduction:Integrated MBR sewage treatment equipment is a compact, fully automatic wastewater treatment system built around membrane bioreactor technology. It can stably remove COD, BOD and suspended solids to produce clean effluent for discharge or reuse. Many project contractors and facility owners are looking for reliable, space-saving alternatives to traditional large-scale sewage treatment facilities. This article covers working principle, structural features, technical indicators, installation modes, application scenarios and selection guidance of integrated MBR sewage treatment equipment, helping engineers and purchasers make suitable project decisions.

Product Introduction
The integrated MBR sewage treatment equipment is a skid-mounted wastewater treatment unit combining biochemical degradation and membrane separation. It can be matched with supporting water filter housing and self-cleaning filter to realize pre-filtration of raw sewage, reducing large impurities and protecting the internal MBR membrane components from premature fouling and damage. It inherits all core advantages of membrane bioreactor technology: stable excellent effluent quality, low operating cost, strong anti-shock loading capacity, low sludge output and high automation level. As an integrated packaged unit, it occupies a very small footprint and is easy for on-site assembly. It can serve as an independent small sewage recycling station, or act as the core treatment module inside large sewage treatment plants. The mainstream shell materials are FRP and stainless steel, with outstanding corrosion resistance and anti-aging performance. Compared with conventional activated sludge processes that require secondary sedimentation tanks, this integrated MBR system simplifies the whole treatment flow and cuts civil construction investment. It is widely adopted for domestic sewage and similar organic industrial wastewater purification.
Working Principle

The core of this equipment is the MBR process, which organically combines membrane separation technology and biological treatment technology. Sewage enters the biochemical reaction tank, where microorganisms degrade organic pollutants. The built-in membrane separation component intercepts activated sludge and macromolecular organic matter inside the tank, so the activated sludge concentration can be maintained at a high level. The hydraulic retention time (HRT) and sludge retention time (SRT) can be controlled separately. Hard-to-degrade organic substances keep reacting and decomposing inside the reactor. The self-cleaning filter and water filter housing installed in the front intercept hair, fibers and large suspended particles in advance, avoiding the membrane surface being blocked rapidly. After membrane filtration, the clear treated water is discharged or recycled. The MBR process greatly enhances the performance of the biological reactor, which is recognized as one of the most promising wastewater treatment technologies.
Main Structural & Material Options
1. FRP Shell Version
Fiberglass reinforced plastic structure is the most popular option for buried installation. It features superior corrosion resistance, anti-aging property, and service life of more than 50 years. It fits humid underground environments well and requires almost no surface maintenance.
2. Stainless Steel Shell Version
Stainless steel type is preferred for above-ground installation and industrial projects with high requirements on hygiene. It is easy to clean, resistant to chemical corrosion and convenient for routine inspection.
3. Full Automatic Control Configuration
The whole set is equipped with automatic control cabinet, pumps, aeration system and online monitoring sensors. Operators only need simple regular inspection, without continuous manual operation.
Technical Specifications
| Item | Influent Water Quality | Effluent Water Quality |
|---|---|---|
| COD (mg/L) | ≤ 500 | ≤ 50 |
| BOD (mg/L) | ≤ 300 | ≤ 10 |
| SS (mg/L) | ≤ 100 | ≤ 10 |
Core Advantages
1. Superior stable effluent:
The MBR membrane separation removes suspended solids thoroughly, the outlet water can meet reuse standards.
2. Compact footprint:
It can be buried underground, and the ground above can be used for greening or other purposes, no extra large building required.
3. Strong anti-shock loading:
High sludge concentration inside the tank enables the system to handle fluctuations of sewage inflow and pollutant concentration.
4. Minimal sludge production:
Longer sludge retention time reduces the frequency of sludge disposal and transportation cost.
5. Low maintenance workload:
Full automatic operation, easy installation and commissioning, no heating or heat preservation required for buried type.
6. Flexible installation choice:
Two optional installation modes: buried underground or placed above the ground.
Application Scenarios
Hotels, restaurants, sanatoriums and hospitals
Residential communities, villages and towns
Stations, airports, seaports and ships
Factories, mines, military sites, tourist attractions and scenic spots
Organic industrial wastewater with similar characteristics to domestic sewage
FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between MBR integrated sewage equipment and traditional sewage treatment equipment?
A: MBR cancels the secondary sedimentation tank by membrane interception. It has smaller footprint, better effluent quality and less sludge yield.
Q2: Can this equipment be buried underground?
A: Yes. The buried installation will not occupy surface space, and the ground above can be greened. It does not need a workshop, heating or insulation.
Q3: Why match self-cleaning filter and water filter housing before MBR?
A: They remove large debris, hair and fibers in advance, prevent these impurities from scratching or blocking the MBR membrane, and extend membrane service life.
Q4: How long is the service life of the equipment shell?
A: FRP and stainless steel shells have excellent corrosion resistance, with a service life of more than 50 years under normal operating conditions.
Q5: Does the system need 24-hour on-site operator?
A: No. The whole system runs automatically. Only regular patrol inspection and simple maintenance are needed.
